Having the privilege of being able to travel all over the country and to various places in the world, has given me the opportunity to meet many and various people. Whether in Uganda, Africa or small town, USA people have dreams and they love to talk about their dreams. No matter where they work currently, what their marital status, how much money they have or don’t have, there is a dream in the heart of people. So, with so many people that are dreaming, why are so few people having their dreams come true? If having a dream is the only prerequisite for that dream being fulfilled, many people would be working their dream job, living in their dream house, and seeing their dreams come true. However, that is not the case. Most people I meet have dreams, but very few are seeing those dreams come true. Many are sharing their dreams, talking about their dreams, but very few are actually doing anything to make those dreams come true.

The first level of dreaming is to acknowledge, what is in my hands?

I have noticed that there are three levels of dreaming. Everyone has something in their hands that can help them fulfill their dreams. In the story of Gideon Judges 6:14 says, Gideon had strength in his hand. In the beginning of the conversation Gideon had with God, Gideon did not think he had anything to work with, but the Lord revealed to him that he had a staff in his hand and so the process of the dream coming true, began. The simple thing in your hand is what God will use to fulfill your big dreams. Though what we have in our hand seems small and insignificant, using what is in our hand is the first level of dreaming.

The second level of dreaming is to recognize what is in your reach.

If you look around you will see that which is in your reach. It may not be obvious at first, but if you keep looking, you will begin to see what is in your reach. Going back to Gideon, he had his father’s altar in his reach (Judges 6:25-31). The Lord told him to tear down his father’s altar to Baal, so he did what was in his reach. Every dreamer has something in their reach that they can do right now. The challenge is, many dreamers are sitting on their dreams and doing nothing with that which is in their hand or that which is in their reach. But why are they not doing what is in their reach? Why are you not doing what is in your reach, why are you not starting with what is in your hand and what is in your reach, what are you waiting for?

The third level of dreaming is knowing what God is going to provide.

It takes faith to fulfill your dreams and this is the level where faith in God and what He is going to provide is critical to the fulfillment of your dreams. Gideon went before God with an army that was much larger than God wanted to use. Gideon’s army, in its current size, would get the glory if they won the battle and God wanted the glory. The Lord reduced Gideon’s army to 300 men and told Gideon he would provide the victory with this mini army. Dreamers have to get to the place in their lives where they are dependent on God to provide, or their dreams will never come to pass.

Having a dream is the intro to seeing that dream realized. Acknowledging what is in your hand, recognizing what is in your reach and knowing that God is going to provide, are the keys to seeing your dreams come true. Most people never see their dreams come true, not because they don't like to dream, rather because they are not doing anything about their dreams. The question remains, what are the dreamers doing?
