Not only have we been called as Kings and Priests to minister before the Lord God,
(see Rev. 1:6) we have been called to be modern day Levites.
The Levites came from the Tribe of Levi. God had set apart this special tribe unto
Himself as the tribe responsible for priestly duties and worship leading. Moses's
brother Aaron was from the tribe of Levi and put in charge by God as the High Priest
over the rest of the Levites.
Numbers 18:5-6 tells us the primary duties of the Levites. "And you shall attend
to the duties of the sanctuary and the duties of the altar, that there may be no
more wrath on the children of Israel. Behold, I Myself have taken your brethren
the Levites from among the children of Israel; they are a gift to you, given by
the Lord, to do the work of the tabernacle of meeting."
Numbers 18:20 speaks of the inheritance of the Levites. "Then the Lord said to Aaron:
"You shall have no inheritance in their land, nor shall you have any portion among
them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel."
God was making plain the fact that He was all the Levites needed, because as they
did the work of the Lord, God Himself would provide for all their needs.
We also see in scripture that it was the Levites that King David positioned to be
in the temple when Solomon was to be King.
"So when David was old and full of days, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.
And he gathered together all the leaders of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and above; and the number
of individual males was thirty-eight thousand. Of these, twenty-four thousand were
to look after the work of the house of the Lord, six thousand were officers and
judges, four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand praised the Lord with
musical instruments, "which I made," said David, "for giving praise." - 1st Chronicles
So we know that Levites had been called by God to watch over His temple and keep
the temple Holy, to protect the Presence of God and to Worship the Lord in the place
of His habitation where His Glory rested.
Why is this of any significance to us today you may ask.
"God is raising up in this day a tribe of modern day levites who will protect the
presence Of God, worship In spirit & truth, and receive the fire He has sent and
placed on the altar of the hearts of the ones who will burn in holiness for Him."
In Leviticus 6:13, God commands, "A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it
shall never go out."
God's message to us is quite clear. The Fire on the altar of our hearts should never
God positioned the Levites "first" in battle. The Levitical Priest's carried the
Ark of the Covenant, which contained the very presence of God. Wherever the presence
of God went, the enemies of God were destroyed. The Levites also blew trumpets and
sang songs of Praise.
"Wherever praise and worship arises, the enemy is crippled and defeated"
You see, as modern day Levites, we have been called to be carriers of the glory
of God. Wherever we carry God's glory, darkness and the enemies of God cannot stand
and are demolished. Spiritual strongholds will be broken as a result of God's glory
breaking through the darkness.
Remember the words of Jesus in Luke 17:21, "For indeed, the kingdom of God is within
Wherever God's kingdom is, the enemy is immediately crushed.
God has commissioned Worship Leaders to be Modern Day Levites. We have been given
the same responsibilities. Instead of animal sacrifices, we give God a sacrifice
of praise. Instead of carrying the Ark of the Covenant, we have been made habitations
for the Glory of the Lord to reside in us. We have been called to be watchmen, gatekeepers,
Priests, singers and musicians that would usher in the things God wants to release
throughout the earth. We demolish the enemy through praise and worship. We stir
up the fire of God on the altar of our hearts through relationship with Him. The
Kingdom of God is IN us!!
We can't stand by the wayside and expect the strongholds around us to break by themselves.
If we want the presence of God to come in Full Force and make all things right,
we must be spiritually violent in our pursuits to see these strongholds break and
God's truth released throughout the earth.
It was Jesus Himself who tells us in Matthew 11:12, "And from the days of John the
Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it
Passivity leads To failure, but activity leads to victory!!
If we want to see any real change occur in the world in which we live and if we
are serious as worshippers unto God, we will answer the call to be God's modern
Those who say "yes" to God's levitical calling will receive blessing, those who
try to worship outside of God's mandated system and do things on their own will
be disappointed and fall short of the deeper things God has for them. God's system
works where the system of man fails. We must be spirit-led, not man-led. God's system
is led by Holy Spirit. Trying to lead others outside of God's system is not only
dangerous, but says that one knows better then God who created them.
Our inheritance is not meant to be built by our own hands, but by the God in heaven
who made those hands.
God is our inheritance, he is ALL we need!!
