CURATORS

We are curators of kingdom in culture. Just like fine art dealers, or antique collectors, we are taking things of high value and putting them on display for the whole world to see. We are here to put things on display...a city on a hill, a light on a stand. The bible says in Philippians 2:15 that we should shine like stars in our generation. So, we begin to shine by curating or culturing the valuable things of the kingdom. We start in our worship community by stewarding attitudes and atmospheres. Who doesn't like someone with a good attitude? Your attitude is a tell tale sign of your partnership with Holy Spirit. Paul says in the same chapter, "...by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Shining doesn't mean that you start looking after your own interests only, but it means you start putting a higher value on others, it means you start fighting for the interests of others, it means you start looking after the interests and dreams of others first. That's valuable.

We are curators of an atmosphere. Have you ever been to an event where a dignitary is present? The whole room is held in stasis till the one with the most honor arrives, then all the focus of the room is given to that person. Stewarding an atmosphere for the presence of God is just like that. To us there must be no competing agenda with his presence. That means that everything we do is with his presence in mind. His presence gets the preeminence.

How would your life change if you activated yourself and began to champion the hearts of those around you? What if you became the curator of a culture that created a community that was set on a hill, that shone so brightly the whole world could see it? What if that community understood the value of honor and started hosting his presence in an active way? What if the atmosphere that we curate began to burn until everything we said and did became a powerful influence to the community and world systems around us?

This is not a dream. This is not a high bar that we will never achieve. I believe it is happening. It is not an accident. It's one of the reasons God sent his Son. It is heaven on earth.
